SpringSource Tool Suite 2.5.2.SR1 and 2.6.0.M2 Released

We are pleased to announce that we just released a service refresh for 2.5.2 and a second milestone build for the next release of the SpringSource Tool Suite. The STS refresh includes updates to Spring Roo 1.1.2  and to Eclipse Helios SR2 (3.6.2), some backported Spring IDE bugfixes, updates to Groovy 1.7.8, and to Grails 1.3.7. Highlights from the new 2.6.0.M2 milestone also include updates to Spring Roo 1.1.2.

Spring Roo 1.1.2 Released
We are pleased to announce the release of Spring Roo 1.1.2. This new release contains over 200 enhancements, new features and fixes since the 1.1.1 release last month including tool usability that offers improved add-on installation in corporate environments, proxy server support and faster downloads of Roo add-on lists. Also included are persistence enhancements like better GWT support, nicer column mappings and extra JSR 303 support, Spring MVC improvements including enhanced templates, additional internationalization, and YouTube embedding improvement. There is also more flexible CSS support, GWT compatibility with GWT 2.2, boosted performance of the “gwt setup” command, and library upgrades supporting latest versions of Spring Security, Hibernate, JUnit, FlexJson, and AspectJ.

Spring Web Flow 2.3.0 Released
You can review what’s new in Spring Web Flow 2.3.0 by going to the reference documentation, see the complete changelog, or download the release. Highlights include:

  • Launching a flow in a page embedded mode.
  • JSR-303 bean validation support.
  • Propagation of a flow-managed persistence context to sub-flows.
  • Support for partial rendering with Portlet resource requests.

VMware Announces Acquisition of WaveMaker
VMware recently announced the acquisition of WaveMaker, a widely used graphical tool enabling non-expert developers to build web applications. This acquisition furthers VMware’s cloud application platform strategy by empowering additional developers to build and run modern applications that share information with underlying infrastructure, to maximize performance, quality of service and infrastructure utilization.

Spring Social 1.0.0.M2 Released
We are very pleased to announce the second milestone release of the Spring Social project. This latest release offers an extensible service provider framework, a connect controller to handle authorization flow between Java/Spring web applications, a service provider and users, Java bindings to popular service provider APIs such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TripIt, GitHub and Gowalla plus Sign-in controllers enabling authentication. In his latest blog, Craig Walls provides all the details about Spring Social’s server provider framework.

Spring Data Graph –
Neo4j Support 1.0.0.M3 Released
The latest milestone release (1.0.0.M3) of the Spring Data Graph 1.0 project with Neo4j support is now available, providing integration with the Neo4j graph database. The primary goal of the Spring Data project is to make it easier to build Spring-powered applications using new data-access technologies such as non-relational databases, map-reduce frameworks, and cloud based data services.

GORM for MongoDB: New Milestone,
Richer Experience
We are pleased to announce a new release (Milestone 2) of MongoDB in GORM, addressing and significantly improving the number one requested feature, nested document support. Now you can embed other domains using the standard embedded mapping in GORM.

Eclipse Virgo 3.0.0.M01 available for download
A new milestone 3.0.0.M02 of Eclipse Virgo is now available from the milestone download page. The M02 milestone of Virgo contains bug fixes on top of the substantial collection of changes in M01. Equinox has been upgraded to pick up some fixes. The Admin console and shell have been improved to handle the new Region implementation, and there have been improvements in serviceability and documentation.
