News & EventsSpring Web Flow 2.0 M2 Introduces Foundation for Unified Spring Application Controller FrameworkDear Spring Community, We are pleased to announce that the second milestone of the next generation version of Spring Web Flow is available.
This release formally evolves Spring Web Flow into a complete controller framework capable of rendering responses using any view technology, with first-class support for JSF and Spring MVC-based views. Spring Web Flow 2.0 M2 also introduces several new features, including support for the Dojo toolkit, improved support for REST-ful URLs, enhanced web application modularization support, support for serving web resources such as JavaScript from JAR files, and support for a new "standalone" mode of operation.
Finally, this milestone provides the Spring community the initial foundation for a single framework for managing the control flow of a Spring web application. Further progress on this front will be demonstrated in the next milestone (M3), scheduled for release at The Spring Experience. M3 will include full support for Spring 2.5 @Controller annotations for RESTful actions, and introduce exicting new support for POJO flow definitions.
Getting Started
The best way to get started with Web Flow 2.0 is to download the release and walkthrough the sample applications. Two sample applications are included in the release. The first sample application demonstrates Spring Web Flow with Spring Faces to implement a Hotel Booking application using JSF with Facelets as the view technology and Dojo as the client-side UI toolkit. The second sample is a flavor of the first that shows how to use Spring Web Flow 2.0 with a Spring MVC DispatcherServlet. This flavor uses JSP with Tiles for view templating.
See the reference documentation for instructions on building the sample applications.
