JavaOne 2008: From the show floor - Day One

The first day of JavaOne 2008 was full of frantic activity around Spring and SpringSource products. The SpringSource booth was flooded with people asking all sorts of fascinating questions about SpringSource Application Platform, SpringSource Tool Suite and SpringSource Application Management Suite. Rod Johnson's technical session, Spring 2.5: New and Notable, was totally packed to capacity - I guess that is why he has been asked to repeat the session on Friday afternoon!

Spring Security 2.0.1 Released

Spring Security 2.0.1 is now available.

Spring Security 2.0.1 provides a number of fixes to the recent 2.0.0 release. It also offers some further improvements in relation to OSGi support, extended namespace configuration, and cryptographically-strong token generation. It is entirely backward compatible with 2.0.0 and can be used as a drop-in JAR replacement.

SpringSource Application Platform Beta Released

Today marks the beta release of SpringSource Application Platform, a completely module-based Java application server that is based on the new SpringSource Dynamic Module Kernel™ (dm-Kernel). The dm-Kernel harnesses the power of Spring, Apache Tomcat and OSGi-based technologies to give the platform incredible flexibility and resilience for both development and production.

SpringOne 2008 Open for Registration

Register now for SpringOne 2008, the premiere European conference on Spring technologies and SpringSource products. The event is being held in Antwerp, Belgium on 11th & 12th June 2008. All the Spring technical thought leaders and experts will be there, including Rod Johnson and Adrian Colyer. If you want to learn how the experts use Spring, find out what is on the roadmap for upcoming releases or pick up tips to make your Spring applications run faster, then SpringOne is the place to be.

Spring Sessions at JavaOne 2008

Spring will once again be one of the hot topics being discussed at JavaOne 2008. There are multiple technical sessions presented by SpringSource thought leaders:

Application Management Suite 1.0.0.RC1 released

SpringSource Application Management Suite 1.0.0.RC1 is now available in the SpringSource beta program. Highlights of this release include:

  • The supported platforms for Spring services to be discovered and displayed in the AMS dashboard has been extended to include JBoss Application Server (v3.2+).
  • Metrics of stereotyped components (@Component, @Service, @Transactional, @Controller, and @Repository) are now visible in the AMS dashboard.
  • A ResetMetrics operation to all applicable managed resources has been added as a Control Action.

Spring .NET 1.1.1 Released

Dear Spring Community,

We are pleased to announce that Spring .NET 1.1.1 has been released.

This is primarily a bugfix and enhancement release but some minor new features were introduced:
  • ParameterValidationAdvice to validate method arguments.
  • A Required attribute and RequiredObjectFactoryPostProcessor for enforcing the configuration of required properties.
  • ASP.NET Panel control to disable DI on custom user controls.
